AFTERCare Ministry

AFTERCare Ministry

AFTERCare Ministry of Nativity parish is designed as a continuation of the parish’s Bereavement outreach. The ministry focuses on the support needs of appropriate family member(s) of the departed and strives to provide comfort, connection, and community after the funeral of a parishioner. During this time of loss, the ministry’s goal is to express that the parish shares in the loss… and to maintain a continued sense of “connectedness” to the parish.

You determine your level of involvement in AFTERCare. Attending the funeral mass is a wonderful outreach. The long-standing group of Nativity parishioners who have attended funerals for years to ensure there would be  singing and Mass participation is greatly dwindling.

If you want to do more after the funeral, an AFTERCare team member maintains contact for at least 6 months through a combination of written notes, personal phone calls, and visits (when appropriate) according to the AFTERCare timeline. We have a library of wonderful booklets, cards, etc…We also try to extend personal invitations to parish events throughout the year.

Join AFTERcare and help provide comfort, connection, and community when others in our parish…or their families…need it most:

“We at Nativity share in your loss, but rejoice in knowing that one of our own has been called by name.”
