Nativity's Artist in Residence
Mindy Burger
Painting, drawing, public
art, collaboration, cultural identity, symbols and their ability to communicate
across language barriers, issues of peace and justice
if any of these
things appeal to you, then this project might be a good choice!
We ll be looking at the artwork of 2 artists from the United States
who did public art: Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. (For a preview
of their work, check out these 2 websites: Basquiat and Haring) Well draw, and
then paint a 6 by 150 outdoor mural in our community. Participants
are asked to think about symbols of peace, justice and cultural identity
from their home country before they come.
Renaissance
Man in Residence

mosaic composed of a variety of materials that will convey the meaning
of friendship. If you like to use hammers, screwdrivers and simple saws,
this project is for you.
The
projects will be shared with the community
on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. at

Nativity's Music Man
Joe Beiting
For those who like to sing or drum this project is for you. We'll
create music that will explore the theme of friendship in song and
rhythm. There will be opportunities to sing in harmony as well as
sing solos. Some say that music is the universal language. We'll
prove that statement to be true.

Friendship in Fabric
Laura Kirley
Quilting
means, "to join materials of different color and design".
For our Quilt Project we will join together students from
around the world as we create a banner of friendship. You'll need
good humor and the willingness to share. We'll teach you the
rest. Come and join us as we make new friends, great memories
and a beautiful quilt.

The
Tech Team
Bonnie Peter
As a member of
the technology team, you will help document, in words and pictures,
the events and spirit of The Friendship Project. Using digital cameras
and computer software the team will produce a multimedia presentation,
a newsletter, and a website to share with those present and others
around the world. It should be a fun, fast-paced, collaborative
week! |
