On the weekends of October 10/11, 24/25, November 7/8 and December 5/6, Nativity will be hosting a transitional deacon from the seminary for his preaching practicum. Below is a brief bio of his journey. Please pray for Deacon Beltz as he continues his preparation to be ordained into the priesthood.

After a great deal of discernment, in 2017 I moved west to resume seminary formation for the Diocese of Toledo, and in 2018 I resumed my academic studies at Mt. St. Mary Seminary of Cincinnati.  I was ordained to the transitional Diaconate on June 19, 2020, for the Diocese of Toledo, and hope to be ordained to the Priesthood in June of 2021.

I am a transitional deacon studying for the Diocese of Toledo.  I am 38 years old, the eldest of three children, and grew up in a rural area north of Youngstown, OH.  I moved to Cleveland, OH after high school to study at the Cleveland Institute of Fine Arts, where I earned a Bachelor’s Fine Arts degree in classical painting and fine metal work, though I have worked in numerous mediums over the years.  I lived in the Cleveland area for 16 years, where I worked primarily as a freelance artist, a craftsman and foreman for home remodeling companies, and I also worked for the Diocesan archives of Cleveland in addition to spending four years of study at Cleveland’s Major Seminary.
