Active parishioners worship regularly and serve their community through various involvments. Nativity Parish encourges you to find ways to share your gifts and talents. Be an active disciple!

Are you concerned about where Nativity Parish will be 5…10…15 years from now? Are you interested in providing for the financial future of the parish beyond fundraising? Do you have an interest or background in Strategic Planning, Planned Giving, Business Relations, or Communications? Are you a Nativity Alum who would be interested in creating opportunities to connect with other alumni?
Development is defined as the meaningful involvement of people in the mission and vision of the parish. The Development Commission is looking for people with varied talents and backgrounds, imagination, honesty, and the ability to “think outside the box.” We investigate and implement opportunities to strengthen Nativity’s future.
For more information about this ministry please contact Julie Abraham at (513) 531-3164.

Are you interested in education, especially the religious education of the children and adults in the parish?
The Education Commission of Nativity of Our Lord Parish advises the Pastor and his Staff as they set policy and create a vision for all education in the parish. This includes Adult Faith Formation, the Parish Grade School, the Jr. High School Religious Education and the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. Meetings are held monthly on the second Tuesday at 7:00 pm.

In 2009 the Facilities Management Commission realized a long-awaited dream: The construction of the new gym and the remodeling of the church. If participation in this type of effort appeals to you, the FM Commission could be a fulfilling way for you to “give back.”
In general, the Facilities Management Committee assesses the needs of the parish’s facilities, identifies solutions to whatever needs are discovered, and establishes priorities for addressing these needs. So, if you have experience in construction, building trades, engineering or facilities management, please consider joining us. But really, enthusiasm, interest and dedication are just as important. Meetings are held on a regular monthly basis.

Would you like to have a great overall view of the parish? Can you be attentive to, and consider the needs of the whole parish? Is the mission and spiritual welfare of the parish important to you? Would you be interested in working in a spirit of prayer, shared responsibility, and consensus building? Do you have practical wisdom, experience, or expertise you are willing to share with the parish?
These are the gifts needed to serve on Parish Council. The Parish Council is a consultative body consisting of people who represent the diversity of the parish community. The council works with the pastor in developing pastoral goals and promoting spiritual growth and renewal in the parish. Working with other parish organizations and ministries, the council recommends specific policies and programs to the pastor that will help the parish carry out its ministry.
New representatives are chosen in the spring with each term being three years. Parish Council primarily meets the fourth Wednesday of each month with a break in the summer.

The mission of the Men’s Club is to build community among all men in the parish as well as dads, grandfathers, and uncles of students in the school; sharing camaraderie, parish news, and volunteer opportunities. Although we do assist with projects that will enhance the experience of parishioners and school families, we are primarily a social group. Meetings are normally held the first Thursday of each month in the school cafeteria where food and beverages are provided.

Have you ever felt the need to serve others, but not know where to start? Nativity’s St. Ann’s Altar Society, the longest standing organization in the parish, provides the perfect outlet to reach out to those in need within our parish, as well as throughout our community. Serve with others who share the belief that service is WHO we are, not WHAT we do.
We work with:
- Children: Always serving as passers on of our Catholic faith, St. Ann’s organizes the parish’s Outdoor Stations of the Cross During Lent. Hand-created stations and wording from school children are placed around the school grounds and are visited by different grade school classes and parishioners throughout the day. Through our “Prayer Partner” program, we match a First Communicant with a parishioner to help prepare spiritually for the special sacrament of Initiation. Every October during the month of the Rosary, members also explain and pray the rosary with our school’s third graders (and parents).
- Community: Join us in our yearly “Feed the Need” program to raise funds for St. Vincent de Paul clients. Or…help with our seasonal favorite, the “Craft & Bake Sale.” All proceeds support The Caring Place, a local outreach organization for those in need. Want more one-on-one outreach? Visit our neighbors at the nursing home to take them communion or entertain them with our monthly bingo games.
- Parish: You can also help fulfill our commitment to the parish to provide baptismal bibs and care for vestments and altar linens. We also purchase items/services for the church i.e. hot water converter for sacristy sink, additional wine goblets, etc…
- Each Other: St. Ann members pray together (the rosary, every Friday morning…and sponsor other occasional faith-building speaker events. We gather each year at Christmas for Mass and a special breakfast to review – and celebrate – our service efforts.
Whatever your need to serve, St. Ann’s has a faith-filled opportunity with your name on it!

Does the end of summer make you blue? Do you get bored on Labor Day weekend waiting for your area pool to close for the season? Do you enjoy working with new friends and old to benefit the parish? How about volunteering at the Nativity Fall Fest?
Held Labor Day weekend, this is the second largest fundraising event of the parish. Planning begins in early spring and continues through the festival weekend. Your energy and creativity are needed to develop new booth ideas as well as provide the people-power needed to work the booths. The Fest is a wonderful opportunity to get to know your fellow parishioners through a great social event for the entire community while serving the needs of the parish.

Are you willing to help the needy through your presence and prayer? Are you a good listener? Are you willing to be an instrument of God’s mercy to those in need? Do you have time to make home visits during the day or on weekends? Do you want to help collect and distribute food bags at Thanksgiving and Christmas? Can you help with loading non-perishable donations in the SVDP truck in spring and fall?
Our mission is to provide spiritual and material assistance in our neighborhood. We answer calls for emergency temporary help for people who need food, clothing, or limited help with rent or utility bills due to temporary circumstances such as work layoff, delayed welfare or disability payments, illness or other family problems. Members visit clients in their home “two-by-two”. They listen to the circumstances of the emergency and provide appropriate assistance, then pray together with the client before leaving.
We appreciate the support of the parish through the second collection on the fourth Sunday of each month. The money for our work depends primarily on these donations.

The Caring Place is an ecumenical organization whose goal is to help those in the community who struggle financially, emotionally or spiritually to overcome temporary obstacles and develop a more stable lifestyle. It is sponsored by eight area churches, of which Nativity is one. Two members of each church serve on the Board of Directors.
The Caring Place has a food pantry, clothing room and gives limited financial assistance for rent, utilities and other necessary client needs. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Volunteers are needed to help in many areas, such as direct service of clients, stocking pantry shelves, sorting clothes, working on fundraising and publicity, light cleaning and some computer work. Special help is needed for holiday projects. We gladly accept donations of food, personal care products, household items, clothing, and, of course, monetary donations are always welcome. If you have the desire to serve others, we have a place for you.

The work of Peace and Justice begins by becoming conscious of unjust systems that perpetuate violence and hatred. Through prayer, study and action, P&J seeks to transform ourselves, our community and some portion of our world to what God created us to be. Since this work is broad in scope, each year we select a timely issue or two to focus our efforts. We collaborate with other parishes in the diocese in choosing the major areas of focus.
We work toward bringing God’s peace and justice to life through educational opportunities, hands-on service and through on-going reflection on the principles of Catholic Social teaching. Whether your strengths are communications, prayer, research or action, come join Peace and Justice in going forth to love and serve the Lord.
