Children’s Choir

, , ,

One of the purest sounds in music is the sound of children’s voices. Children are gifts from God and each is called to be a disciple of Christ. Through music, one deepens their relationship with God, becomes formed by the words they sing and refines an indispensable creative skill. Children are encouraged to make joining the Children’s Choir a priority in their schedule.

The Children’s Choir rehearsal begins at 3:00pm after school on Thursdays. Students in the choir who are students of Nativity School sing the weekday school mass. A warm-up will begin at 7:50am before the 8:15am Mass. The Children’s Choir will sing the 9:00am Mass on selected Sundays and other Masses on selected feast days throughout the year (see below). This provides all children of Nativity the opportunity to sing at mass.

The Children’s Choir will encourage and support student cantors for the Masses as well as foster the skills of instrumentalists. The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for arranging music to the student’s skill level.

The Children’s Choir will reinforce concepts covered in music class related to music literacy. This will be done through the use of handbells and other available resources.

Finally, Music Ministry will present a concert on May 20, 2018; featuring some of the works they have studied.
