Room Parent Coordinator - PTA
Date Posted: 10/23/2020
Supporting our teachers is a top objective of the PTA. Our Room Parents do a phenomenal job supporting this objective every year. The Room Parent Coordinator helps support our Room Parent Community by compiling the Favorite Things sheets for Random Acts of Kindness, recruiting new room parents, kicking off the Room Parent program, and being available for support throughout the year. This role can be done remotely and is great for someone who loves to make our teachers feel special and supported.

As you may know, it has become a tradition at Nativity for students and parents and other adults to provide a meal and serve at Tender Mercies on the first Friday of each month. Tender Mercies is a nonprofit organization that serves homeless people at its Over-the-Rhine location. This service opportunity is a relatively easy but meaningful way for our kids and us to serve a group of people who are truly in need of assistance. We are looking for new families and students to join our group!
Each month, we select an entree and then build a meal around that. A SignUp Genius is sent out to everyone who has signed up to help. The SignUp Genius will list items that are needed for that month’s meal. You can sign up each month or once every few months or whatever works for your schedule. We need help serving the meal too! Available adults and their kids bring the meal downtown around 5 p.m. and serve. We then do an easy cleanup and leave usually by 6 or 6:15 p.m. For the meal, some families prepare a homemade entree, side dish or dessert and others just purchase items needed. All help and donations are appreciated!
I am also looking for someone take over as leader/co-leader for this volunteer effort each month. I do have someone that has volunteered to be a co-lead, but we are looking for someone to help her. If you have an interest in helping out or have questions on what it involves, please let me know!
Tender Mercies is located at 27 West 12th Street in downtown Cincinnati (45202), and it has a secure parking lot (locked gate). For more information you can check out their website at: https://www.tendermerciesinc.org/.
If you would like to be a part of the Tender Mercies group, please send an email message to Stephanie Nigut at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will add you to the list. Thanks so much for considering!
